Lots to catch up on

I haven't been on Vox much of late.  My apologies.  I have lots to share.

1. My mom is going to have surgery today.  It's just elbow surgery to try and repair a lot of what was shattered over a year and a half ago.  It's complicated, but in and of itself it's not major.  However, she's going to be under for a while, and it's a bit stressful to think about.  I'm over 1300 miles away from her and I hope everything goes well.  I'll be visiting her for a week starting this weekend to help her recover and generally be a hand around the house.  I have been very lucky to be close to both of my parents.  I've got a long story about that, but I'll save it for another post if you don't mind.

2.  We went to a minor league baseball game on Sunday.  I'm not a usual fan of baseball, but I do love sitting outside watching sports and just doing a lot of thinking and relaxing.  It was brutally hot, but that just made the case for plenty of cool beer and ice cream aplenty.

3. The new iPhone is coming out.  I'm pretty excited (as a geek) about that.  It pretty much hits every point that smartphone makers have been dinging for the last year.  About the only shortfall I can perceive is the battery.  Then again, I have yet to replace a battery on any of my phones, so we'll see about that.

4. We're going to Bermuda next month!  GB, can you give us a guided tour?
