True. I guess the lesson is, value the time you have with your family.

Family is better when you live far away, I've found. For one thing, as you said, you appreciate them more. The second thing? They miss you more, which works for both parties.

I'm so glad I live two train rides away . . . you have no idea.

I completely agree. I really think we value each other's time together more. I see my parents and siblings bicker over this and that, but they rarely bicker with me. I just don't have that sort of persistence in their minds.
