QotD: Lessons from Dad
What lesson did your father teach you that still helps you in life?
I'm not sure I tried to ponder this question much as I helped my dad haul a living room set and two dining room sets around town for my mom and my sister. If anything, I think I remember every time I'm home is to always make the absolute best of my time here. My parents and my siblings are folks I see little of, being the oldest and the only one who lives more than 45 minutes away from the nest. I value all the time I spend with them, because I get so little of it.
To quote Ferris Bueller: Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

Family is better when you live far away, I've found. For one thing, as you said, you appreciate them more. The second thing? They miss you more, which works for both parties.
I'm so glad I live two train rides away . . . you have no idea.
